Pulling her hair out

Our 2 1/2 year old, Melia sucks her thumb. (I know I just skipped ahead two years, but I am just entering the blogging world and wanted to give you her birthstory- more so that I could have it documented as well. It has been something I have wanted to write out since I had her.) Now back to thumb-sucking...Not a huge deal, but when she does it she yanks on her hair. She likes to suck her thumb and the hair that is wrapped around it. This started about one year ago when she was 18 months old. She pulled all her hair in one section on the back of her head out. I had to trim the rest to make it even. This habit of hers come and goes. Well, in the last few weeks she has started pulling her hair more frequently again. I have to say, if I am completely honest, I am praying that she stops partly because of pride on my part. I think she would look much cuter with more hair. She is an adorable little girl, but last summer I was able to put pig tails in and I have not been able to do this for quite some time, because of all the hair she has pulled out. I have read online about other kids who have done this and they all grew out of it, but it is hard to wait till that time comes. I know there is a disorder that is related to hair pulling also, but I know in my heart this is not the case. For whatever the reason, it is just become a habit.
